Ayurvedic Tips for Autumn Balance

In Ayurveda, autumn is considered a Vata time of year, characterised by cooler, drier and often changeable weather.

It's therefore a lovely time to focus on keeping yourself warm, grounded, nourished and well-rested.

Here are a few simple Ayurvedic-inspired tips to help you transition into autumn.

  • Stay Warm and Grounded
  • Make time for warm baths, cosy evenings and gentle movement.
  • Walking, yoga, swimming or simple stretching can all help you stay active while encouraging a sense of grounding and relaxation.
  • Nourish Your Skin - as the weather becomes cooler and drier, your skin may need a little extra nourishment. Consider switching to richer facial oils, creams or body products if your skin starts feeling dry or tight.
  • Keep Hydrated - remember to drink enough throughout the day. As the weather cools, warming drinks such as ginger or turmeric tea can be a comforting addition to your autumn routine.
  • Eat Seasonally - Autumn is a lovely time for warming, nourishing meals such as soups, stews and dishes containing seasonal root vegetables.  Continue to include plenty of fruit and vegetables too, providing a good variety of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients as part of a balanced diet.
  • Slow Down - Autumn is a natural opportunity to start slowing down after the busier energy of summer. Prioritise rest, regular routines and simple self-care rituals that help you feel calm, comfortable and grounded.  And if the darker days affect your mood or energy levels significantly, speak to your GP or healthcare professional for appropriate advice.
  • Autumnal Pampering - if you're in need of a little autumnal warmth, a Hot Stone Massage is one of my favourite treatments for this time of year. The combination of warm stones, massage and a cosy treatment environment makes it a wonderfully relaxing way to ease into the colder months.

Sometimes the best way to embrace autumn is simply to slow down, get warm and give yourself permission to rest.

If you'd like to explore autumn and the other seasons in more depth, come and discover my Seasonal Living Collection inside the Revive Self Care Hive.

It's designed to help you understand the changing seasons and create simple, nourishing self-care rituals that work with them rather than against them.

Reconnect. Restore. Revive.

Until next time,
